Home at last

I know that I haven't lived in Blanding since I graduated from high school back in 1996 but I still consider it my home town. It has been five years since I last went home, and I realized how much I love that place. On Thursday I was able to see my good friends Haven and Shantil. We were able to chat for a couple of hours and catch up with each other.

On Friday we had grandma's funeral. It was very nice being in grandma's home town, surrounded by her friends and family and reminisce about what a great person she was. My grandma loved driving up the mountain road every single day, so as part of the funeral processional we drove up the mountain road a bit and then headed over to the cemetery. The weather was nice so none of us froze. It was a great day to remember grandma. In honor of her we all went on a hike on Saturday down to some Indian ruins by Bluff. Grandma loved anything to do with the Indian culture down in that area, and often went on these same hikes. The weather was gorgeous. I definitely needed to get out of the doom and gloom of winter and into some warm weather. We had a very nice weekend and I'm going to try and make a point of getting back down in that area on a regular basis.

I love that you all drove up the mountain road for part of the procession and hiking to the ruins. What a peaceful way to remember your grandma's joys!
